Teaching and Commemorating the Holocaust in 21st Century Britain Second Conference
Thursday 27 August – Friday 28 August 2009
The Centre for Jewish Studies and the Department of Religions and Theology, University of Manchester and Imperial War Museum North,in partnership with the Shoah Memorial, Paris.
This conference is appropriate for secondary school teachers and will be divided into two separate days. Thursday, 27 August, aims to present some of the newest research n the Holocaust and Friday 28 August, will deal with teaching the Holocaust.
The conference will provide accurate tools to educators to deal with teaching the Holocaust in the classroom and to local government authorities who organise annual olocaust Memorial Day events.
The speakers will be leading academics from the University of Manchester, together with international speakers from the UK, France and the United States. It is expected that speaker and participant discussion will tackle the difficulties of Holocaust education and commemoration.
Location: Imperial War Museum North Times: Thursday 27 August 10.00 am – 5.30 pm Friday 28 August 10.00 am – 4.00 pm
Free Admission – places are limited and booking in advance is essential. If you have to cancel please advise us so we can offer the place to someone else.
Participants will need to cover their own travelling, food, accommodation and parking costs.
