The "Revue d'histoire de la Shoah" (History of the Shoah Review) was created in 1946 and is the only European periodical focusing on the history of the extermination of European Jews. It contains articles by specialized researchers and academics. It is a highly relevant publication for any student or researcher working on this fracture in history. The "Revue d'histoire de la Shoah" provides insight on ongoing historical research concerning the genocide of the Jews. At the same time, it gives pride of place to older testimonies which had gone unheeded. The two annual issues of the Review containing about 400 pages each, are generally thematic. They focus on the history of the Jewish genocide perpetrated by Nazi Germany, analysed from the various vantage points of the human sciences, literature, cinema and theatre). They give an account, in an eclectic selection of themes, of the Jewish resistance in France, the chronicles of the Polish ghettos, the role of the medical profession in Hitler's Germany and Switzerland's part in German Europe, etc. The Review also sheds light on other tragedies in this century of genocides: several articles were included on Rwanda's Tutsi, the Gypsies and, more recently, on the genocide of the Armenians. The change in name in 1997 - "Le monde juif" (Jewish World) became "La Revue d'histoire de la Shoah" (History of the Shoah Review) - was decided because it is more representative of the contents and objectives of the publication and the overall activities of the Memorial, the Review being one of its main means of expression.
