The cin ma has accompanied the Zionist company practically since its birth by denouncing the different waves of immigration in Palestine, the pionni re life in the open and agricultural communities, the creation of the state of Israel and the war of pendance (1948). Sayn tes of daily life, current matographic features, didactic documentaries, and, starting from the thirties, works of fiction, this production puts in sc one of the great adventures of the 20th century so key. Between moignage and propaganda, some films do not question the political stakes of this enterprise: the fate of the Holocaust survivors, the relations between Israel and the Diaspora, the relations with Arab neighbors. This cycle of films is con u et anim by Ariel Schweitzer, historian of cinema, critic and teacher (University of Paris VIII / University of Tel-Aviv). He is the author of Cin ma isra lien de la modernit (Paris, 1997 / Tel-Aviv, 2003) and collaborates extensively with Cahiers du cin ma.

A poignant sketch on the fate of Holocaust survivors wandering across Europe, from one transit camp to another, until their boarding on the boat Lo tafhiduno ( You will not scare us ). Arriving at the port of Ha fa, the immigrants are then prohibited from boarding and the boat is turned towards Cyprus. Exodus
Adapted from the novel by Leon Uris, the film depicts the struggles for independence of Isra l around the Exodus affair: the tragic odyssey of 4000 Jewish migrants rejected from the Holocaust by the British authorities who then governed Palestine. The children of the sun
Fully composed of archive images and amateur films, this subtle work of writing the evolution of the kibbutz from its origins to the climax of socialist utopia. Sabra
R alis by the Polish director Alexander Ford, Sabra is one of the first fictions filmed in Palestine. Very slow and of great dramatic intensity, this film writes the creation of an agricultural community by Jewish pioneers with the aim of twenty-first century: the fight against climatic conditions, the search for water, relations with Arab neighbors. At the end of the twentieth century, a group of pioneers settled in Palestine and created an agricultural community. Among the first feature films produced by Israel, this film tackles, not without audacity, the major questions of Zionism in the poque: the relationship between the Jewish community of Palestine and the diaspora, relations with Arab neighbors. A kind of remake of Sabra by Alexander Ford. From the Cin math than from J rusalem.
