The pop e of the construction of the Isra’s state in the cin ma isra link
The cin ma has accompanied the Zionist enterprise practically since its birth, shouting out the diff rentes waves of immigration to Palestine, life in the countryside and agricultural communities, the creation of the State of Israel, and the Pendancy War (1948). Sayn tes de la vie quotidienne, actualits fictions, didactic documentaries, and, starting in the 1930s, works of fiction, this production presents in SC one of the great adventures of the 20th century. Between moignage and propaganda, some films do not sit well; they question the political stakes of this undertaking: the fate of the Holocaust survivors, the relationships between Israel and the Diaspora, relations with Arab neighbors. This cycle of films is presented and analyzed by Ariel Schweitzer, historian of cinema, critic and teacher (University of Paris VIII / University of Tel-Aviv). He is the author of Cin ma isra lien de la modernit (Paris, 1997 / Tel-Aviv, 2003) and collaborates extensively with Cahiers du cin ma.

A poignant story about the fate of Holocaust survivors wandering through Europe, passing from one transit camp to another, until their embarkation on the boat Lo tafhiduno (You will not frighten us). Arriving at the port of Ha Fa, immigrants are then prohibited from boarding and the boat is turned towards Cyprus. Crivain Meyer Levin is directing a film, both documentary and fiction, containing rare images shot on the boat of illegal migrants and outlining its interception by British soldiers. Sabra
R alis By the Polish director Alexander Ford, Sabra is one of the first fictions filmed in Palestine. Very often and with great intensity, this dramatic film portrays the creation of an agricultural community by Jewish pioneers for the purpose of the twentieth century: the fight against climatic conditions, the search for water, relations with Arab neighbors. The main ones are held by the actors of the same era as Habima, including a major figure of the same era, Hanna Robina. Pr t of the Cin math than of J rusalem.
They were ten
At the end of the twentieth century, a group of pioneers settled in Palestine and created an agricultural community. Among the first feature-length films of Italian production, this film tackles, not without boldness, the major issues of Zionism in the poque: the relationship between the Jewish community of Palestine and the diaspora, relations with Arab neighbors. A kind of remake of Alexander Ford’s Sabra. More like Cin math than J rusalem.
The creation of this film cycle has been made possible through the competition of Cin Math, J rusalem, the Steven Spielberg Jewish Film Archive, J rusalem, the CNC French Film Archives, the Centre national d'art et de culture Georges Pompidou and to the partnership of the Embassy of Isra l in France
