Memory and justice

Rwanda year zero

We were attacked at the Brothers' house by Interahamwe led by Muhizina [the assistant mayor of the former commune of Butamwa, accused]. We were discouraged and went out. But, outside, the Interahamwe were killing people with local weapons. People who weren’t killed that day fled into the marshes. [... ] Muhizina was with her Interahamwe who were expressing their joy. [...] We went into the marshes. We left at 300 for the marshes, we arrived at 100 and there were 20 of us after the crossing. In our group, we stayed at 3. We crossed the river. [...] The families who had stayed here all died.
