History
Created in 1986 by immigrant Jews and the children of immigrants without political distinction, Mémoire Juive de Paris aims to show through a series of major photographic exhibitions and publications, the face of this immigration that fled from ghettos, the pogroms and misery to regain human dignity in the France of the Enlightenment, as well as its contribution of all kinds to its adopted homeland.
Mémoire Juive de Paris proposes to present unpublished documents and photos collected from Jewish families who survived the Shoah, in order to preserve their memory.
The period selected for this immigration goes from 1880 to 1948 and passes through all the tragedies of history. Jewish immigrants to France participated in both wars in defense of the country’s freedom and independence.
