The specificities of the genocide of the Tutsi

A genocide of neighbors

The striking specificities of this genocide, the massive involvement of the civilian population and the limited circle in which the killers and victims evolve are the result of the exterminating logic of the State. It is on the murderous investment of neighbors, throughout the entire country, that the success of the "genocide project" developed by the governing bodies rests.
Encouraged by the context of impunity and exhortation established by state structures, long-time friends, relatives and family members of the victims, bathed in a racist ideology, join forces and carry out the extermination enterprise.
Grouped in small formations, called ibitero, the murderers include young men as well as women or children.
