The specificities of the genocide of the Tutsi

A genocide of neighbors

The defining characteristics of this genocide, the massive involvement of the civilian population and the limited circle in which the killers and victims operate are the result of the state’s extermination logic. It is on the murderous investment of neighbors, throughout the entire country, that lies the success of the "genocide project" developed by the governing bodies.
Encouraged by the context of impunity and exhortation put in place by state structures, long-time friends, relatives and family members of the victims, bathed in a racist ideology, join forces and carry out the extermination enterprise.
Grouped in small groups, called ibitero, murderers include both young men and women or children.
