The specificities of the genocide of the Tutsi
The places of massacre
Unlike the genocide of the Jews, the physical annihilation of the Tutsi was not concentrated on large killing sites that might correspond to Nazi extermination camps or ghettos in eastern Europe. The planned murder of the Tutsi took place in the space of everyday life, on a street corner, in familiar places, even sacred, until then synonymous with sanctuaries and asylums.
The Tutsi are put to death throughout the entire Rwandan territory. Some assembly points nevertheless concentrate the areas of exactions.
