Primo Levi

Port e of the draft

Primo Levi begins the writing of If it’s a man d s his return from Auschwitz, having I imagine him during his deportation. He then proposes to Einaudi, the great editor, to publish it but he refuses. Fortunately, a small publishing house granted him a publication in 1947 but his work does not immediately know a great succ s: people are not ready to become truly aware of the Shoah, we do not believe this moignage. However, a few years later, Turin opens an exhibition on portation and it is then like a renaissance for the mooning of Primo Levi. Einaudi will therefore propose a new publication to him in 1958 which, this time, will have an audience that is well-known: very quickly the book is translated into several languages and becomes world-famous. D at that time, this work will not cease to be very imprim e. Until his death, Primo Levi will continue to mock you, to tell about his experience, how he was broken by the Lager and how he retains his dignity: in mockery. The work of Primo Levi constitutes a strong drawing in images and motions. He expresses his feelings through a simple, self-centered writing style, but not without effect. His work is touching, both from a human and purely literary point of view.

.

For many people, the truth of port s mockings remains if it is a man. In school textbooks or in the files of historians, everywhere are quoted excerpts from this work. At the appearance of revisionism and non-globalization, Primo Levi will strengthen his theory in order to convince the parties of the subject’s race which, according to him, must not fall into oblivion. His life will then be fully dedicated to this fight, but without closing in on his pass: he will participate in many missions and write press articles about current events and often give his own opinion during some Italian debates. His increasingly poignant oral testimonies as well as his interviews will only strengthen the public opinion which considers the testimony of Primo Levi as one of the main elements that brought about the awareness of the Holocaust in Europe.
