For more than 10 years, the Shoah Memorial has organized annual study trips to the site of Auschwitz-Birkenau in Poland, supervised by survivors and accompanying historians.

Aimed at general, vocational and agricultural students, these study trips are part of a genuine educational approach, often multidisciplinary, based on an in-depth and personalized preparation, on the provision of adapted and exclusive educational tools, on qualified supervision and rigorous follow-up after the stay.

Chosen according to their motivation, the students are necessarily involved in educational projects that mobilize them throughout the school year. Before the study trip, these projects lead classes to undertake documentary research and to strengthen their knowledge, a fundamental step before visiting Auschwitz. After the study trip, students engage with their teachers in a process of reflection and restitution, both from the point of view of their emotions and acquired notions.

Study trips are an educational tool for teaching the history of the Holocaust, complementary to other actions undertaken in schools. They also represent for all participants an exceptional human and intellectual experience, whose stakes go beyond the field of history to achieve civic and citizen training.
