Every day, the head of each unit writes an assessment of the activity of the day. As specified at the bottom of each page under the heading "IMPORTANT", the writer must: "spell names correctly, identify all personalities, locations, organizations, weapons, equipment." The Master Caption Story, written to complement the Caption Sheet, is more than a mere summary.

It’s a well documented story with good articulation of the events that have been filmed. Es ist das zweite Mal, dass diese Bilder betrachtet werden, das erste Mal, dass sie durch die Objektive der Kameraleute betrachtet wurden. Ivan Moffat, a former student at the London School of Economics, is its brilliant and major writer.
