The Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah, a private foundation recognized as of public utility, created in December 2000 following the work of the Mattéoli Commission on the Dispossession of the Jews of France, is chaired by David de Rothschild. The Foundation supports projects carried out by institutions, associations or individuals.
Its primary vocation is the historical research and transmission of the history of the Shoah, particularly in France. Making a work of memory but also of solidarity and recognition, this is the second mission of the Foundation that provides its support, through specialized social institutions of the Jewish community, to the deportees and Jews who were victims of anti-Semitic persecution, their families and those who rescued them.
Finally, its mission is also essential: to support projects aimed at the preservation, development and promotion of Jewish culture and Judaism, while respecting their different components.
