Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah

The Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah, a private foundation recognized as being of public utility, created in December 2000 at the end of the work of the Mattéoli Commission on the spoliations of the Jews of France, is chaired by Mr. David de Rothschild. Whether solicited or initiated by actions, the Foundation supports projects led by institutions, associations or individuals.

Its primary purpose is historical research and the transmission of the history of the Shoah, particularly in France. To do a work of remembrance but also solidarity and recognition, this is the second mission of the Foundation that provides support, through specialized social institutions of the Jewish community, to the deportees and Jews who are victims of anti-Semitic persecution, to their families and to those who helped them.

Finally, its mission, which is also essential, is to support projects aimed at the preservation, development and influence of Jewish culture and Judaism, while respecting their various components.

Since its creation, the Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah has supported the organization of study and commemoration trips to places of remembrance of the Shoah in France and abroad, notably at Auschwitz.
