Since 2000, when the Shoah Memorial and the Ile-de-France Regional Council entered into a partnership, 120 establishments (out of 684 public and private high schools under contract) have participated in study trips to Auschwitz. Thus, about 2,304 students have benefited from the direct testimony of former deportees and the teaching provided by members of the Memorial’s educational team.
The impact of these days spent at Auschwitz is significant. The teachers emphasize the intensity of the day and the emotion that was felt by the students, often impressed by the extent of the largest concentration camp complex created by Nazi Germany.
