Since 2000, when the Mémorial de la Shoah and the Regional Council of Ile-de-France engaged in a partnership, 120 establishments (out of 684 public and private high schools under contract) participated in study trips to Auschwitz. Approximately 2,304 students benefited from the direct testimony of former deportees and the teaching provided by members of the Memorial’s educational team.
The impact of these days of travel to Auschwitz is significant. The teachers underline the intensity of the day and the emotion that was felt by the students, often impressed by the extent of the largest concentration camp complex created by Nazi Germany.
