A few hundred meters from the Honor d'Estienne d'Orves library, a memorial plaque commemorates the arrest by the Gestapo on February 20, 1944, of Marie and Maurice Kaufman, their daughter, Marguerite Laurenti, and their grandson Georges, who was three years old. In port s by convoy no. 69, which left Drancy on March 7, 1944, all four were killers at Auschwitz. With the help of their history teacher, 24 ST2S students collected information and consulted archival documents in order to trace their journey. On May 11, 2009, an exhibition entitled De Nice, Auschwitz opened in the presence of descendants of the Kaufman and Laurenti families.

1940-1944, the fate of the Jews in Anjou: the word of the archives.
The final years of Terminale L at the lycée Saint-Martin in Angers have just received a historical brochure containing 15 thematic sheets on the Shoah in Maine-et-Loire. These notes address with precision the context of the German occupation, the application of the Vichy government’s anti-Semitic legislation, the organization of spoliations, the rotation of raids, and the departure of convoy no. 8 from Angers Saint Laud station on July 20, 1942. They are accompanied by a CD-ROM, archival documents, maps, and photographs.
