Educational projects of the year 2008-2009: videos

The study trip to Auschwitz is an opportunity to film images of the camp and to film the testimony of former deportees. Upon return, after editing and recording audio comments, the films are shown to other classes or at meetings open to the public. They allow students to share their experience, and thus constitute an important medium for exchange and reflection.

293 Jews are arrested in the Sarthe region, in port and outport, at Auschwitz and Sobibor. To prepare for the journey of study, the final years of high school in Le Mans Sud have reconstited the story of several victims, particularly the Sugana family, who were arrested in Le Mans and murdered at Auschwitz in 1942. Upon their return, they had an exhibition and a film entitled Shoah, de la Sarthe, Auschwitz, programmed by the local visionary team at Angers 7 in June 2009.

Before leaving for Poland to cover the site of Auschwitz, the STAV students from the agricultural school Garcia Lorca de Th za, in the Eastern Pyres, learned about the ongoing Nazi extermination policy and visited the former internment camp at Rivesaltes. After the study trip, they created a film and a booklet entitled De Rivesaltes, Auschwitz, it is crossed off from the port. Based on the documents available at the Cholet Municipal Archives, the lives of the 1st ES of the lycée Sainte Marie have been compared to the perception and representation of the Jews in their city between 1940 and 1944. The results of their research have been diffused on a blog: http://lewebpedagogique.com/biteau/tag/juifs/. Furthermore, a lot of work has been done, including excerpts from works that are related and examples of rescap s. A repr sentation open to the public was organized and published on May 18, 2009.

Auschwitz, the industry of death

After the journey of study, Auschwitz, the lives of one of the Vuillaume de Mirecourt scholars have been restored: an exhibition on Primo Levi and a DVD, containing in particular the interview with a Righteous among the nations, France Giet, who met him at his home a month before his disappearance. The class’s work has been performed for a hundred years on May 9, 2008 in the auditorium of the school.
