A time for exchange and discussion is generally required upon returning from the study tour to give students the opportunity to speak. The written word is also a means of expressing personal feelings and reflections. Written spontaneously or at the request of teachers, the texts of high school students testify to the impact of the trip and the meeting with former deportees.
We cross the rails by way of millions of people arriving, living their last moments without being aware of it. The camp is white, covered by a thick layer of snow. We walk along the tracks toward the back of the camp: the bedroom and the gas station.

In Birkenau, we followed the rails of the Judenrampe (the railway through which convoys of Jews arrived). It is this place where the SS carried out the selection of ports: those who were going to die directly or those who were going to die slowly, while working. Then our guide led us to the ruins of the Cr matory ovens, four in number. Those who condemned are directly involved, so they did not pass through the camp themselves and took a path that bypassed the camp. So they were not physically crossing the camp.
