1944-1945: the end of the war on the CNRD’s agenda 2021-2022

This round table proposed as part of the National Competition for Resistance and Deportation (CNRD) by the Association of Professors of History and Geography (APHG) is in resonance with the 2021-2022 theme of the CNRD: "The end of war. Operations, repressions, deportations and the end of the Third Reich (1944-1945).

This theme invites teachers and students to study the interactions of the military, political, ideological and human aspects that marked the end of the conflict, in an approach consistent with the spirit of the Contest, and which may be illustrated, in particular, by a local-scale study.

Moderated by Marc Charbonnier, editor-in-chief of the journal Historiens & Géographes – secretary general of APHG.

with Christine Guimonnet, professor of history and geography at the Academy of Versailles – secretary general of the APHG, Tristan Lecoq, inspector general (history – geography), Tal Bruttmann, historian at the Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah, Claude Singer, historian responsible for the educational sector of the Shoah Memorial.

Teach the history of the genocide of the Tutsi in middle and high school

Proposed by the Shoah Memorial

Following the release of the Duclert report and the renewal of Franco-Rwandan relations, it is interesting to look at the news of the Tutsi genocide, both in historiographical terms and in terms of research perspectives. On the other hand, this news forces us to reflect on what makes it essential to teach about the genocide of the Tutsi but also to propose educational ideas that can be used by teachers as part of school curricula.

with Hélène Dumas, researcher at the CNRS, Iannis Roder, head of training at the Shoah Memorial, and Hubert Strouk, agrégé in history.

Tribute to Samuel Paty: teaching secularism and freedom of expression in middle school and high school

Proposed by APHG This round table aims to pay tribute to Samuel Paty, a history and geography teacher murdered on October 16, 2020 for having trained his students in critical thinking and presented in class caricatures of Muhammad as part of a course on moral and civic education (EMC) : How, after the assassination of Samuel Paty, can we teach freedom of expression and secularism? To what extent does this particularly tragic event question teaching practices and relations with students/parents? How to teach caricatures in class after Samuel Paty?

Led by Christophe Capuano, professor of contemporary history – Université Grenoble-Alpes

With Samir Langar, doctor in education science, Iannis Roder, head of training at the Shoah Memorial, Christine Guimonnet, professor of history and geography at the Academy of Versailles – secretary general of APHG.
