Study trips to Auschwitz

The Shoah Memorial organizes about ten one-day study trips to the Auschwitz camp for high schools in Île-de-France and several French regions. These trips are supervised by historians of the Memorial. Each year, the work of students who went to Auschwitz-Birkenau can be consulted on the mini-website entitled "Study trips to Auschwitz".

TRIPS ORGANIZED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE REGIONAL COUNCIL OF ÎLE-DE-FRANCE

Three one-day study trips are organized for 24 high schools in the Île-de-France region, with 20 people per school (18 students and 2 teachers). The selected schools must select high school students by asking them, for example, to write a cover letter addressed to the educational team. The participating students are welcomed at the Memorial for a preparation of the study tour, then are invited to carry out a collective educational project (taking the form of an exhibition panel) in order to communicate their experience to their classmates. These panels will then constitute the travelling exhibition Vision by the young people of Ile-de-France – at Auschwitz-Birkenau, likely to circulate within the establishments that request it.

"An incredible experience, also as a history professor, because the course was anchored in space both in Paris (the question of memory) and in Poland (facts and traces) with a European dimension"

Day trips (dates subject to availability):

  • Monday, November 24, 2025
  • Tuesday, November 25, 2025
  • Wednesday, November 26, 2025

Pricing : Free (all costs are covered by the Memorial and the Île-de-France region, excluding delivery to the airport).
The calls for applications were sent to the institutions by the Île-de-France regional council.

FOR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Le Mémorial de la Shoah organizes, for middle and high school students, study trips on the history and memory of the Holocaust and the Jews in France. They are offered in several regions, for example around the internment camps and the memory of deportation (Paris, Drancy, Pithiviers, Beaune-la-Rolande, Compiègne...) and on the traces of Jewish life and the Shoah in Alsace (Strasbourg, Natzweiler-Struthof...).
