To reduce antisemitism, support the educational activities of the Shoah Memorial throughout France

The Shoah Memorial’s mission is to train, inform and transmit the history of the Holocaust and genocides. Beyond its research, documentation, publishing and cultural mediation activities (museums and places of memory), the institution places pedagogy at the heart of its action.

The Crucial Role of Teacher Education

Teachers play a fundamental role in the transmission of the history of the Holocaust and genocides. That is why, for 25 years, the Memorial has been actively committed to training them.

We provide them with the help and support they need to master historical knowledge and appropriate pedagogical approaches.

An issue that is more relevant than ever

Faced with the rise of anti-Semitism in France, including within the school environment, these trainings have become an absolute necessity.

In 2024, the Memorial is organizing 184 training sessions. Among them, the Summer University is the most requested and the most complete. It brings together more than 200 teachers each year for a week in Paris and Toulouse.

These courses are entirely designed and run by our institution, in close partnership with the National Education.

Our Mission

Training, informing, transmitting: this is the triple challenge that the Shoah Memorial takes up. We will pursue with determination our mission of education to teach the history of the Holocaust and genocides, and to push back anti-Semitism.
