The Shoah Memorial’s main mission is to train, inform and transmit the history of the Holocaust and genocides. Beyond its research, documentation, publishing and cultural mediation activities (museums and places of memory), the institution places pedagogy at the heart of its action.
Teachers play a fundamental role in transmitting the history of the Holocaust and genocides. That is why, for 25 years, the Memorial has been actively committed to training them.
We provide them with the necessary help and support to master historical knowledge and adapted pedagogical approaches.
Faced with the rise of anti-Semitism in France, including within the school environment, these trainings have become an absolute necessity.
In 2024, the Memorial organizes 184 training courses. Among them, the Summer University is the most requested and the most complete. It brings together more than 200 teachers each year for a week in Paris and Toulouse.
These courses are entirely designed and carried by our institution, in close partnership with the National Education.
To train, to inform, to transmit: such is the triple challenge that the Shoah Memorial takes up. We will pursue with determination our mission of education to teach the history of the Holocaust and genocides, and reduce anti-Semitism.
