Holocaust Remembrance and Prevention of Crimes against Humanity Day Commemorative educational events

journee_27janvier_memorial_shoah_2016-(13)In 2002, on the initiative of the Council of Europe, the European Ministers for Education adopted a declaration establishing Holocaust Remembrance and Prevention of Crimes against Humanity Day in the schools of the Member States. France and the UN have chosen the date of January 27, the day the Soviet Army discovered the Auschwitz camp, to establish this day of remembrance.

On this occasion, the Shoah Memorial coordinates, with the support of the Ministry of Defense – Directorate of Memory, Heritage and Archives (SGA / DMPA) and the National Office for Veterans and War Victims (ONACVG), throughout the national territory, commemorative and educational events, in partnership with the National Organization of the Cornflower of France and ten institutions responsible for places of remembrance related to the persecution, internment, deportation and extermination of the Jews of France.

– Centre for study and research on the internment camps in Loiret and Jewish deportation, Orléans (Loiret)
– Amicale du camp de Gurs (Pyrénées-Atlantiques)
– Memorial of the Camp de Rivesaltes (Pyrénées-Orientales)
– Foundation of the Camp des Milles (Bouches-du-Rhône)
– Place of memory of Chambon-sur-Lignon (Haute-Loire)
