Holocaust Remembrance and Prevention of Crimes against Humanity Day Educational commemorative events

journee_27janvier_memorial_shoah_2016-(13)In 2002, the European Ministers of Education adopted at the initiative of the Council of Europe the declaration establishing the Holocaust Remembrance and Crimes against Humanity Prevention Day in the schools of the Member States. France and the UN have retained the date of 27 January, day of the discovery of the Auschwitz camp by the Soviet Army, to institute this day of remembrance.

On this occasion, the Shoah Memorial coordinates, with the support of the Ministry of Defense – Directorate of Memory, Heritage and Archives (SGA / DMPA) and the National Office of Veterans and War Victims (ONACVG), throughout the national territory, commemorative and educational events, in partnership with the Bleuet de France national organization and ten institutions responsible for places of remembrance related to the persecution, internment, deportation, and extermination of Jews in France.

– Memorial of the Camp de Rivesaltes (Pyrénées-Orientales)
– Foundation of the Camp des Milles (Bouches-du-Rhône)
