On 20 November 1945, the trial of the main political, economic and military leaders of the Nazi regime opened in Nuremberg. The inaugural Nuremberg trial was so in more ways than one: by creating the notion of a "crime against humanity", associating written documents with images as evidence, and filming the trial to create a historical archive.
