The buses and police cars used to transport Jews to the Vélodrome d'Hiver during the roundup, parked in front of the stadium, Paris 15th arrondissement. France, July 16, 1942. Shoah Memorial / CDJC/BHVP.
In France, the roundups of 1942 and those that followed until the Liberation, carried out mainly by the French police, were part of the mechanism that led Jews from an entire continent to the extermination camps in Poland. Gathered for the first time in an exhibition, archival documents, photographs and letters from deportees illustrate this year 1942, a turning point in the history of the destruction of European Jews.
