In 2002, on the initiative of the Council of Europe, the European Ministers for Education adopted a declaration establishing a Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust and of the Prevention of Crimes against Humanity in Schools in the member states. On this occasion, the Shoah Memorial coordinates, with the support of the Ministry of the Armed Forces – Directorate of Heritage, Memory and Archives (DPMA), the National Office of Veterans and War Victims (ONACVG) and the Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah throughout the national territory, commemorative and educational events, in partnership with the National Organization of the Cornflower of France and twelve institutions responsible for places of remembrance related to persecution, the internment, deportation, and extermination of Jews in France.
