On the occasion of the publication of the Jew who knew. Wilno-Jerusalem: the legendary figure of Abba Kovner (1918-1987) by Dina Porat, ed. Le Bord de l'Eau, 2017. Translated and adapted from English and Hebrew by Alexandra Laignel-Lavastine. With the support of the Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah.
Jew, fighter, poet, Abba Kovner is 23 years old when he finds himself locked up in the ghetto of Wilno (Vilnius). After trying to organize the insurrection there, this born leader fled through the sewers to reach the forest, where he became a legend by his exploits in combat. Above all, Abba Kovner is the first to have publicly called on his people to take up arms.
In the presence of the author Dina Porat, Alexandra Laignel-Lavastine, translator, and Jean-Luc Landier, former deputy director general of the Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah.
