Portrait of Ceija Stojka © Karin Berger
This portrait of Ceija Stojka evokes the traumatic experiences of deportation and stigmatization, still experienced today by her grandchildren, but it also transmits to us the strength of life that Ceija Stojka nourished, her happiness to be there and to tell. Ceija Stojka died in 2013 and her deportation became the central theme of her paintings, drawings and writings.
This event precedes the inauguration in October 2018, at the Shoah Memorial, of the exhibition "L'internement et la déportation des nomades (1939-1946), une histoire française".
To be seen from February 23 to May 20, 2018 the exhibition "Ceija Stojka (1933-2013), a Roma artist in the century" at La Maison rouge, 10 boulevard de la Bastille 75012 Paris.
