The director randomly chose a building that she knew nothing about. For several years, she investigated to find the former tenants of 209, rue Saint-Maur, and to reconstruct the history of this small human community during the Occupation. She met them in Paris, in the suburbs, in the provinces, in Melbourne, New York and Tel Aviv. She filmed them, as well as the stones and the inhabitants of the building today, to capture the traces of a broken intimacy.
