90,000 children lost on the exodus roads, 650,000 orphans, 120,000 young delinquents, 11,500 deported Jewish children... For a long time, the childish experience of the Second War was killed. They were however placed at the heart of the regeneration project of Marshal Pétain, put to work, faced with hunger, death, deportation, condemned by an outdated justice system, hidden among strangers, sometimes used by the Resistance...
