In 1905 the Society for Racial Hygiene was founded in Berlin. The law of 14 July 1933, known as the "Hereditary Disease Prevention Act," led to the forced sterilization of 400,000 people. Then, starting in 1939, the elimination of "lives unworthy of being lived" was implemented.  As part of these various programs, nearly 300,000 people will be murdered.
