In July 1940, the German authorities isolate a part of France that extends from the Somme to the Swiss border to establish "reserved areas" for Germanic colonization. They recruit hundreds of foreign Jews from the Paris region as agricultural workers. Entire families exhaust themselves from working the fields before finally being deported.

In the presence of director Francis Gillery, writer Christine Dollard-Leplomb, historian Michel Laffitte, president of Terres Ardennaises Jacques Lambert, writer Maurice Rajsfus, and witnesses David Dawidowicz, Daniel Haber, Annette Janin, Mireille Miltsztayn and Sarah Mimoun.
