Orphan, Maurice Zelty is placed in Paris. Shortly after the beginning of the war, his brother, a resistant, confided him to the National Movement against Racism (MNCR), which hid him among peasants in Haute-Savoie, then in Villard-de-Lans, before entrusting him to Mrs. François in the house Le Renouveau in Montmorency. Hitherto withdrawn into himself, Maurice lets his anger explode here. Resistant, opposed to everything, he has difficulty attending school, not knowing how to read or write properly. But, provided with an innate sense of the story, he is a formidable storyteller.
