June 1945: Seriously defaced, the singer Nelly Lenz, the only survivor of a family deported to Auschwitz, returns to Berlin. After a facial reconstruction surgery, Nelly goes in search of her husband.
When she finds him, he sees only a disturbing resemblance and offers her to take the identity of his late wife to recover his family patrimony. Nelly becomes her own double.
