Sunday, 09 October 2016 at 2:30 PM

As every year, the literary season is an opportunity to discuss with authors about their latest publications.

rentree-litteraire-memorial-shoahIf literature has the power to put into words the years of war that often seem ineffable, it is also a way to question the significance of memories, the difficulty of reconstruction, the complexity of memory and transmission.

This day will take place in two stages:

Part 1 → 14:30

A sports journalist depicts the tragic fate of the "Mozart of football", Matthias Sindelar, who will resist in his own way the grip of Nazism in Austria; while the shadows of the dark years of the Occupation still haunt the novelists: a young man tracks down his grandfather to discover what was the action of administrators responsible for spoliations; fierce anti-Nazis, after a halt in Sanary, the "Montparnasse-sur-Mer", are for some designated as "nationals of an enemy power", and in the grip of the threat of the Gestapo; teenagers in love with jazz, against all odds – hunted by the Nazis, chased by collaborators, or rejected by the Resistance – are making every effort to live their youth!

In the presence of Gérard de Coriment, Zazous (Albin Michel, 2016), Michèle Kahn, Un soir à Sanary (Lepassage, 2016), Eugène Saccomano, Le mystère Sindelar. The footballer who challenged Hitler (Les éditions de Paris / Max Chaleil, 2016), Alexandre Seurat, Provisional administrator (La brune au Rouergue, 2016)

Part 2 → 4:30 p.m.

The authors of these four novels take us to the borders of reality and fiction: in Poland, a couple with no history goes on an organized trip, which will nevertheless reserve for them a "memorial tour"...  ; in Warsaw, in the 2010s, a couple discovers the zombies of Jews murdered during the Holocaust; in Rome, the encounter with the Pope and a renowned medal-maker of Hungarian origin leads to an inevitable process of unveiling...  ; in colonial Algeria, Sarah, a young woman, dies under mysterious circumstances after the Holocaust...

In the presence of Chris Simon, Memorial Tour (éditions du réalisme délirant, 2016), Igor Ostachowicz, La nuit des Juifs-vivants, (translated from Polish by Isabelle Jannès-Kalinowski, L'antilope, 2016), Olga Lossky, Le revers de la médaille (Denoël, 2016), Armel Veilhan, Au nom de Sarah (Ex-Aequo, 2016)

The literary season will be animated by Eduardo Castillo, journalist.
