Regards d'ailleurs sur le nazisme
Sunday 02 July 2017 at 2:30 PM
On the occasion of the publication of Citizen of the World. Brazil and the Holocaust and Jewish refugees (1933-1948) by Maria Luiza Tucci Carneiro, L'Harmattan 2017, and Les rapports de Berlin by Jean-Marc Dreyfus, Fayard 2016.
By unveiling the circulars that banned the entry of Jews into Brazil, Citizen of the World makes evident the anti-Semitism of the Brazilian governments from 1933 to 1948. He evokes the position of the ambassador of Brazil to France, Luis Martin de Sousa Dantas, recognized as "Just among the Nations". The reports of Berlin are those of André François-Poncet, French ambassador to Germany from 1931 to 1938, who alerted his government to the dangers of National Socialism.
