An exhibition of the Memorial inaugurated in Rome

The exhibition "Sport, > e Giochi olimpici nell'Europa in guerra (1936-1948)" was inaugurated in Rome on 26 May 2017 by Mario Venezia, president of the Fondation Musée de la Shoah and Jacques Fredj, director of the Mémorial de la Shoah in Paris.

The exhibition

By glorifying the body of athletes, totalitarian and authoritarian regimes make sports fields places for the recruitment of populations, a field for ideological propaganda and an instrument at the service of aggressive diplomacy. At the same time, sport asserts a new face and becomes a space of emancipation and resistance to Nazism.

This exhibition is presented in partnership with the Shoah Museum Foundation of Rome and with the support of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, CONI, the Lazio Region, Rome Capital, the Union of Italian Jewish Communities, and the Jewish Community of Rome.
