The adventures of Erika and Klaus Mann (children of the writer Thomas Mann), seen through archival footage, filmed performances by Erika Mann, staged works by Klaus Mann and anecdotes from their relatives. From the Roaring Twenties and early writings to the rise of Nazism and their exile, through the creation of the cabaret Die Pfeffermühle (The Pepper Mill), this documentary is a captivating tribute to the "terrible children" of Thomas Mann.
