January 27 is dedicated to the International Day for the Memory of Genocide and the Prevention of Crimes Against Humanity. This year marks the 79th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp by Soviet troops.

In connection with this commemorative date, the Shoah Memorial offers a series of activities as part of its educational mission, with special programming including exceptional events in Paris and Drancy. Poignant testimonies, meaningful encounters and captivating exhibitions are on the program.

A ceremony is also scheduled for Friday, January 26 at noon in the crypt of the Memorial of Paris, in the presence of the young Ambassadors of Memory and many personalities.

As part of this day and in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the genocide of the Tutsi, the Memorial inaugurates, from January 24, the exhibition «Rwanda 1994: the genocide of the Tutsi». This exhibition, located in the Allée des Justes, is under the scientific curatorship of Stéphane Audoin-Rouzeau, historian and director of studies at the EHESS, Hélène Dumas, researcher at the CNRS (CESPRA-EHESS), as well as Marcel Kabanda, historian and president of Ibuka-France.
