This cross-country route between the MAHJ and the Shoah Memorial offers complementary activities.
to question historical events and memory through literary narratives.

At the Memorial

Visit-workshop "Works for memory: the Shoah in literature"
During and after the Shoah, in France as throughout Europe, many people took up the pen to tell and recount the unspeakable. From testimony to fiction, from autobiography to theater, from the newspaper to poetry, the power of the word invites us to question and understand history. Why write? When to write and in what form? Around the Shoah Memorial and within the permanent exhibition, the workshop allows you to walk through the most beautiful pages of Simone Veil, Joseph Kessel, Robert Badinter, Hélène Berr, Patrick Modiano or Primo Levi.
Dates:
  • Wednesday, May 18, 2022, 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, June 15, 2022, 2:30-5:00 PM

Au mahJ

The walks outside the walls "A la recherche de Perec": "The child of Belleville" then "The Perecquien legacy"
"In Search of Perec": Understanding Georges Perec is deciphering a writing imbued with mystery, playing with constraints, and one of the most singular works in world literature. It is also about exploring the "other places" of this son of Polish Jewish immigrants who liked to walk in the city.
Two separate walks outside the walls, one around Belleville Park, the other in the Père-Lachaise district, allow to reconstitute the "Perec puzzle".
Both courses require good physical condition. It is not essential to register for both walks.
