The inter-museums are offered as part of partnerships between the Shoah Memorial and various institutions. These courses allow students to better understand the chosen theme.

BACKGROUND: Being a Jewish child in Paris

For students from CM2 to 5e, Paris 

This course addresses key elements of a Jewish culture transmitted through the fate of families who arrived in France at the beginning of the 20th century. Students then discover different forms of resistance and the organization of child rescue during the Second World War.

  • 1st session: Walk outside the walls: Being a Jewish child in the pre-war Marais

A map of the Marais in hand, children cross stories of Jewish lives on the eve of World War II. From themes such as arrival in France, the school of the Republic, the choice of first name, they discover unique itineraries and a living culture. The route begins in the permanent collections of the MAHJ before continuing in the neighborhood.

Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes

  • 2nd session: The Star of Resistance at the Shoah Memorial workshop

Level: CM2

Themes: Occupation, exclusion, antisemitism, resistance, rescue.

Historical period: WWII.

Media: Archival documents.

Main activity: Individual plastic production.

Duration: 2h30

Duration: 1 day or 2 half-days

ART HISTORY

Destinies of artists

Level: from CM2 to 5th grade

The École de Paris brings together artists from various backgrounds in the pre-war Montparnasse district. Faced with the rise of Nazism, some use their art to bear witness and raise awareness.

This itinerary proposes to discover their works.

Duration: 2 hours and 30 minutes

  • 1st session at the MAHJ

After discovering the world and the works of artists such as Amedeo Modigliani and Chana Orloff, the students meet at the studio, where each one designs his own plastic creation inspired by the works of artists from the École de Paris.

Duration: 2 hours (CM1-CM2) / 2.5 hours (6th and 5th grades)

  • 2nd session at the Shoah Memorial

Workshop-visit: Resisting through art and literature

Level: CM2

Themes: Nazism, persecutions, propaganda, art, occupation, exclusion, resistance.

Historical periods: 1930s and World War II.

Media: Reproduction of works of art, archival documents.

Main activity: Creation of a photo collage.

Duration: 2 hours and 30 minutes

Duration: 1 day or 2 half-days
