On the occasion of January 27, 1945, the date on which the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp was discovered 78 years ago, the commemoration ceremony was held on Friday, January 27, 2023, within the crypt of the Paris Shoah Memorial.

This commemorative ceremony took place in the presence of Mrs. Ginette Kolinka, survivor of the deportation camps; Mr. Eric de Rotschild, president of the Shoah Memorial; Mr. Jacques Fredj, director of the Shoah Memorial; Ms. Isabelle Rome, Minister Delegate for Gender Equality, Diversity and Equal Opportunities; Mr. Thierry Laurent, Chief of Staff on behalf of Ms. Patricia Mirallès, Secretary of State to the Minister of the Armed Forces, in charge of Veterans and Memory; Mrs. Véronique Peaucelle-Delelis, Director General of the National Office for Combatants and War Victims; Mr. Christophe Kerrero, Rector of the Ile-de-France Academic Region, Rector of the Academy of Paris; Mrs. Judith Cytrynowicz, representative on behalf of the Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah; Mr. Claude Ribbe, memory council on behalf of Mr. The Mayor of the 6th district of Paris; Mrs. Laurence Patrice, deputy mayor of Paris in charge of memory and the fighting world, on behalf of Mrs. Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris; Ms. Cécilia Barbieri, head of the Section for Education for Peace and Global Citizenship, on behalf of Ms. Audrey Azoulay, UNESCO Director-General for Education, Science and Culture; and Ms. Ilana Cicurel, Member of the European Parliament.

Associated with this ceremony were the Ambassadors of memory, the choir of the high school La Fontaine de Paris under the direction of Patrick Choukroun, a class of students from the college Yvonne le Tac who attended the testimony of Ginette Kolinka.

In the evening, the Ambassadors of Memory rekindled the flame under the Arc de Triomphe.
