January 27th is dedicated to the International Day of Memory of Genocides and the Prevention of Crimes against Humanity. This year, the date marks the 79th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp by Soviet troops.

In connection with this commemorative date, the Shoah Memorial offers a series of activities as part of its educational mission, with special programming including exceptional events in Paris and Drancy. Poignant testimonies, significant encounters and captivating exhibitions are on the program.

A ceremony is also scheduled on Friday, January 26 at 12 pm in the crypt of the Paris Memorial, in the presence of young Memory Ambassadors as well as many personalities.

As part of this day and in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the genocide of the Tutsi, the Memorial inaugurates, from January 24, the exhibition "Rwanda 1994: the genocide of the Tutsi". This exhibition, located in the Allée des Justes, is placed under the scientific curatorship of Stéphane Audoin-Rouzeau, historian and director of studies at EHESS, Hélène Dumas, researcher at CNRS (CESPRA-EHESS), as well as Marcel Kabanda, historian and president of Ibuka-France.
