Call for contributions to the Revue d'Histoire de la Shoah n°218

Vatican, Church and the Shoah: Historiographical renewal around the Pius XII archives

Article proposals (abstract of 500 to 700 words maximum and 2 to 3 biographical lines) are to be sent before January 20, 2022 to nina.valbousquet@gmail.com

The articles in the file (50,000 characters maximum, spaces and bibliography included) can be written in French, Italian or English (they will be translated into French) and will be sent in September 2022 for an output of the file in autumn 2023.

Articles will be published in French in print and electronic format; articles submitted in English will be published in both French and English, also in electronic and paginated format.

The issue of the Revue d'histoire de la Shoah intends to publish articles on western Europe, in the arc comprising the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland and Slovenia (but not on Germany). In these regions, the composite nature of repressive tools seems to defy any global interpretation: house arrests, detentions, internments, concentrations, targeted or random executions, deportations to killing centers or the concentration network 2. The logics at work and the distinct modalities of a specific genocidal violence, combined with targeted or conventional violence, struggle to emerge.
