The Jules-Isaac Cultural Center of Clermont-Ferrand joins the Shoah Memorial in order to perpetuate its work.

The Jules-Isaac Cultural Center (CCIJ) joined since the 1er January 2021 the Shoah Memorial in order to continue its mission and activities.

Emblematic institution of the history of the Jews in Auvergne, of the memory of the Shoah and the Righteous, the Jules-Isaac Cultural Center has been installed since the 1er December 2013 in the renovated premises of the historic synagogue of Clermont-Ferrand (Beit Yacov). This synagogue, inaugurated in 1862 and deconsecrated in 1966, is the oldest building of its kind in central France.

The Memorial is thus associated with a recognized regional institution whose support and educational and cultural activities have been developed each year since its inauguration in 2013.

"With this rapprochement, the Shoah Memorial and CCIJ demonstrate their common desire to establish continuity in their actions and ensure the future of CCIJ," said Jacques Fredj, Director General of the Shoah Memorial.

In the continuation of ancient links, the two structures affirm their convergences based on common values and objectives, both culturally and educationally.

CCIJ actions will continue in the region and resume in their entirety as soon as the health situation allows.
