As part of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp, a ceremony was held on Thursday, January 30 at the great amphitheater of the Sorbonne in front of an audience composed of students from different schools in Paris.
This ceremony took place in the presence of Bernard Beigner, rector of the Paris academy, Jacques Fredj, director of the Mémorial de la Shoah, Arlette Testyler, president of the Auschwitz deportees union and Annette Wieviorka, historian and honorary research director at the CNRS
On this occasion, the students were able to witness the poignant story of Ester Senot, a Shoah survivor, in a conversation with Hubert Strouk, head of the educational service at the Shoah Memorial. During this ceremony, Esther Senot received a trophy from the Paris Academy, created by the students of the Lucas high school in Nehou.
The students also attended a screening of a video of the film "Les Immortels", in the presence of directors Éric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, as well as Camille Marty, the young student who meets Léon Placek in the film. The ceremony was also marked by the performance of the vocal ensemble from La Fontaine high school directed by Patrick CHOUKROUN.
