Commemoration of the Vel d'Hiv roundup

On Thursday 9 and 16 July, the Shoah Memorial organizes on its various social networks and its website the commemoration of the Vel d'Hiv roundup of 16 and 17 July 1942 during which 13,152 Jews including 4,000 children are arrested in Paris and the Paris region.

A ceremony without an audience organized by the FFDJF, in the presence of Serge Klarsfeld, President and Jacques Fredj, director of the Memorial, will be broadcast live at 3pm from the children’s garden of the Vélodrome d'Hiver on social networks and on the website of the Shoah Memorial.

Synopsis: In Paris, in winter, during the Second World War, Roman Joffo, hairdresser, his wife Anna and their four sons, live under the laws of Vichy. Jews, they are now obliged to wear the yellow star and face ridicule and sometimes insults. As the situation worsens and the older brothers want to take the maquis, Roman and Anna decide to place their youngest children, Maurice and Joseph in the free zone, in Nice. For the two boys, it is the beginning of a journey through occupied France.
