On the occasion of the National Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Deportation, on 24 April 2016, the Mayor of the city of Chelles, Brice Rabaste, inaugurated two exhibitions "Chelles, Justes et Déportés" as well as the exhibition of the Memorial "Les Juifs de France dans la Shoah" at the Arts Center the Churches.
During this inauguration, the municipality of Chelles wished to make a donation of 80,000 euros to the Shoah Memorial and to the French Committee for Yad Vashem, as part of the sale of the Lederman House which belonged to the Lederman-Sobol family, deported and deceased at Auschwitz-Birkenau. This house had remained uninhabited since the liberation of the camps and the city of Chelles had done everything possible to find any descendants. No heir having been identified, the house had then fallen into the communal private domain in 2012. The municipality finally sold it in 2015 and decided to donate part of this sale to both organizations.
The remaining 80,000 euros will be used to create a children’s collection of documents on tolerance, history and peace. In memory of the Lederman family, this collection will bear their name
