Jewish writer born in Romania, Benjamin Fondane, already recognized in his country, settles in Paris at the age of 25. Poet, thinker, playwright and filmmaker, resolutely "modern" and attentive to the avant-garde, he nevertheless keeps himself at a distance from schools and doctrines, political and literary movements and seeks his own path, his personal response to timeless questions as well as those posed by his time.
