Multilateral training for the Baltic States
The Shoah Memorial and Yad Vashem joined together in order to propose to the Ministries of Education Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia the first training common to the teachers of the 3 Baltic countries.
It was held in Riga from 11 to 14 July 2016. Bringing together local, Israeli and French historians, this seminar intends to propose a common historical narrative on the destruction of Jews in this part of Europe and reflect on the challenges of preventing antisemitism in schools.
The French ambassador opened the work at the Janis Lipke Memorial and received all 45 interns at the Residence. This action is part of an international strategy that for the past year has favored a multilateral approach, limited to a regional scale making sense, to address issues of memory.
