The Shoah Memorial trains Rwandan professionals in the transmission of the Genocide against the Tutsi news
Under the aegis of Minister Dr. Damascène, an essential training was inaugurated at the Gisozi memorial site in Rwanda. This cooperation initiative took place in partnership with the Mémorial de la Shoah, whose expertise in archives management and memorial mediation is recognized internationally.
The training was aimed at Rwandan memorial site managers, professionals from the Ministry of National Unity and Civic Engagement (MINUBUMWE), its affiliated agencies and various partners. It focused on two fundamental axes:
-
The use and exploitation of a new corpus of archival documents relating to the Genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi.
-
The conservation of material evidence of the Genocide.
This documentary corpus, specifically developed, is intended to serve as a foundation for the development of educational tools within the Genocide Memorial against the Tutsi, targeting in particular the visits of school groups.
During the opening, the Minister insisted to the participants on the need to present history in a strictly chronological, clear and coherent manner. He emphasized the importance of covering the entirety of the historical narrative: from the pre-colonial Rwandan unity to its destruction by colonization, through the progression of genocidal ideology under postcolonial regimes, the execution of the Genocide and the process of reconstruction of the country. This approach aims to ensure that visitors have a complete and in-depth understanding of this historical period.
