Study day: call for applications

Escape routes and rescue paths: France, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Italy: Exile, crossings, borders... 1938-1944

Conference: 24 September 2019, Mémorial de la Shoah, Paris

Within the framework of the European program EHRI (European Holocaust Research Infrastructure), the Shoah Memorial organizes a study day dedicated to "Escape routes and rescue paths: France Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Italy: Exile, crossings, borders..." 1938-1944.

This day aims to promote the EHRI program, to make known its activities and the results achieved since its implementation in 2012.

Offering a forum to researchers whose current or past work focuses on the themes of exile, rescue and border crossing, this day will be an opportunity for highlighting and exchanges. The presence of archivists, of librarians as well as museum curators whose collections are related to these subjects will provide an essential insight and allow for thematizing in particular the difficulties encountered by research on the question of available sources.

This day of exchanges will allow to discover the program of the European Holocaust Research Infrastructure and the help that this institution can offer for this type of transnational research whether it is through its documentary portal or the financing of research stays.

This day of study is open to researchers, students, museum curators, archivists, librarians, as well as anyone who has conducted this type of research in a personal capacity.

The interventions, of a maximum duration of 20 minutes, can be made in English or in French (translation ensured for these two languages).

To propose an intervention, please send a CV (max. 2 pages), a cover letter and a summary of the subject of the intervention. The travel and accommodation expenses of the selected speakers will be covered.

The deadline for submitting an intervention is on September 5, 2019.

Open to the public on registration and within the limit of available places.
