Day of Tribute to Simone Veil for the International Women’s Day

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, this Sunday, March 8, the Shoah Memorial offers you a day of tributes to Simone Veil, with two events not to be missed:

"Simone Veil, parcours d'archives" : a meeting with the writer Nadine Vasseur, on the occasion of the publication of her book "Simone Veil, public life, private archives".

The extraordinary journey of Simone Veil has generated a considerable amount of documents. In the light of private archives – handwritten letters, annotated speeches, photographs... – and television and radio interventions, the book traces, from her childhood to her disappearance, the private and public trajectory of Simone Veil. A sensitive portrait that also sheds light on less well-known aspects of his activity, such as his fight for the improvement of prison conditions.

In the presence of historian Annette Wieviorka. Meeting hosted by Pierre Bonte-Joseph, journalist at Public Sénat, director of the film "Simone Veil, memory of an immortal".

«Simone Veil, inexorable witness»: a meeting with the writer David Teboul, on the occasion of the publication of his book «Simone Veil. Dawn in Birkenau».

Simone Veil reflected on the conditions of her testimony and its articulation with those of the other survivors. From the embarrassment of her relatives to the indifference of most, she was early confronted with the difficulty of testifying. Yet, the inaudible’s cruel experience did not dampen her will to say what she experienced. In this work, she confides to David Teboul his childhood, his deportation and return from the camps, and the impact of this event on her subsequent commitments.

In the presence of historian Annette Wieviorka, meeting moderated by Olivier Rozenberg, teacher and researcher at Sciences Po.
