National Deportation Day: a solemn tribute to the victims and heroes commemoration

Sunday, April 26, 2026

This Sunday, April 26 was held the National Day of Remembrance for the victims and heroes of the deportation.

This day aims to remind everyone of this major historical tragedy and raise public awareness about the world of internment and deportation so that such events do not happen again.

A tribute was first paid at the Shoah Memorial, then at the Memorial of the martyrs of the deportation. The commemoration ended with the rekindling of the flame of the Unknown Soldier at the Arc de Triomphe by Aurore Bergé.

An institutional ceremony in the presence of Aurore Bergé, Minister Delegate for Gender Equality and the Fight against Discrimination, and Emmanuel Grégoire, Mayor of Paris, by Alice Ruffo, minister delegate to the Minister of the Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs.

In partnership with the Ministry of the Armed Forces.
